DOE lines up $90m for geothermal
research
Money for geothermal research is moving
through the Department of Energy pipeline. The department issued a
Funding Opportunity Announcement
for up to $90 million over four years for geothermal energy technology
research, development and demonstration.
The funding is aimed at helping researchers develop component
technologies and improve existing geothermal technologies. $10.5 million
is available this fiscal year. $30 million is expected to be available
next year, and $49.5 million for fiscal year 2010. The funding is
open to industry and academic researchers.
