DOE rounds out small biofuel
refinery funding
The Department of Energy has named the
final two of nine small-scale
biorefineries to receive federal funding, awarding Flamebeau River
Biofuels of Park Falls, Wisconsin and Verenium Biofuels Corporation
of Jennings, Louisiana up to $40 million over five years.
The program will provide the biorefineries with up to $240
million over the next five years to develop processes for converting
wood scraps, agricultural wastes and other non-food feedstocks into
liquid fuels like ethanol.
