X Prize launches green video
contest
CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Entice thousands of
people to propose crazy ideas for solving the energy and environmental
crises and you just might spark a breakthrough or two. That's the
idea behind a $25,000 YouTube video contest announced yesterday by
the X Prize Foundation.
The contest, What's
Your Crazy Green Idea?, is for a 2-minute video proposing an energy
or environmental X Prize. The deadline for submissions is October
31. The winner will be announced in December.
X Prize competitions are designed to spur innovation. Current
X Prizes include $10 million to produce a car that gets more than
100 miles per gallon and $30 million to land a robot on the moon.
Most new X Prizes will be aimed at energy and environmental challenges,
said X Prize CEO Peter Diamandis.
