NSF funds vehicle-to-grid project
The National Science Foundation has
awarded $2 million to University of Michigan researchers to design
a system
to tie electric vehicles into the electric power grid.
The idea is to develop a framework for electric vehicles to
plug into the grid to recharge and for the grid to use the plugged
in vehicles' batteries for load balancing.
The researchers will also generalize the vehicle-to-grid research
to understand the interactions between infrastructures and multifunction
devices.
The project is led by Jeffrey Stein, Gregory Keoleian, Huei
Peng and Zoran Filipi.
