Sustainable biofuels project
funded
The National Science Foundation has
awarded nearly $2 million to Ximing Cai and colleagues at the University
of Illinois to make a holistic, systems-based analysis of sustainably
producing cellulosic biofuels.
The project, Interdependence,
Resilience and Sustainability of Infrastructures for Biofuel Development,
will look at engineering and social aspects of the interdependencies
of infrastructures involved in producing cellulosic biofuels.
The study will examine the systems involved in growing biofuel
feedstocks and producing the fuels. Systems include water and transportation.
