NREL, Petrobras collaborate on biofuels

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is teaming up with Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras), the Brazil-based international oil conglomerate, to advance biofuels research and development.

The collaboration will combine NREL's experience in economic and environmental evaluation of biofuels with Petrobras' experience in converting sugar production waste to ethanol, converting vegetable oil to diesel components, and thermochemical conversion of biomass to fuels.
