NSF funds microbial fuel cell
project
The National Science Foundation has awarded $300,000 to Texas A&M's Paul de Figueiredo and Arum Han to study how bacteria generate electricity.
The Microbe-mediated Electricity Generation project is aimed at building a massively parallel system for screening microbes' biomolecular mechanisms to better understand how microbes generate electricity. The information can be used to develop microbial fuel cells that generate more electricity than existing devices.
