NSF boosts solar research
The National Science Foundation has
funded five research projects aimed at making solar cells from a range
of materials, including abundant metals and nanostructured plastics.
* Charge-storing materials applied to solar cells (Bioinspired Electrets for Solar-Energy-Conversion Applications)
* Nanostructured materials for plastic solar cells (Rational Design and Synthesis of Targeted Nanostructures in Organic Photovoltaics)
* Solar cells made from abundant, non-toxic materials (Copper Zinc Tin Sulfide Based Solar Cells)
* Nanostructured inorganic materials for solar cells (Phase segregated inorganic heterstructures for low cost, high efficiency photovoltaics)
* Nanostructured light-channeling materials for plastic solar
cells (Incorporating photonic layers into polymer solar cells)
