NSF funds wind energy modeling

The National Science Foundation has funded a pair of research projects that aim to use high-power computer models to improve wind turbine efficiency.

* Numbercrunching of combined wind turbine simulators (Space-time Loadings on Wind Turbine Blades driven by Atmospheric Boundary Layer Turbulence: Coupling LES and DES)

* Computer model for improving wind turbine design (A Fluid-Structure Interaction Study in Wind-Turbine Blades)
