Wattzon has it going on

The website wattzon.org hosts a rich set of graphed statistics about energy that should be required reading. First off, the site points out the amount of energy the average American uses: the equivalent of 114 100 Watt light bulbs running continuously.

Want to know how this compares to the global average? Take a look at the home page.

The site also puts into perspective world energy consumption, the types and amounts of energy available on the planet, how much we can harness by various means, what will be required to meet even modest climate change goals, and even how much energy in fossil fuels it will take to convert our energy system to renewable sources.

Wattzon.org is the work of Saul Griffith, one of the founders of Squid Labs and Makani Power. Makani Power is a startup that aims to harness high-altitude wind energy.

We’ve added wattzon.org to the ERN resources page. If you know of similar sites, or other sites you think we should add, tell us about them using the form at the bottom of the resources page.
